Anil Kapoor Jokes about Asking Wife Sunita for Pocket Money Even After 41 Years of Marriage
At the trailer launch for his upcoming film Subedaar, Bollywood veteran Anil Kapoor shared lighthearted details about his personal life, revealing that he still turns to his wife, Sunita Kapoor, for “pocket money.” Despite his massive stardom, Kapoor joked that no one in his house is actually his fan. He recounted a humorous exchange from earlier that day when Sunita asked which film’s trailer he was launching, highlighting how his family keeps him grounded by remaining largely unaware of his professional schedule. “Sometimes I even ask for ₹10,000–15,000 in cash before heading to a shoot,” the actor admitted with a laugh.
Anil and Sunita Kapoor have been married for 41 years, having wed in May 1984. During the event, Kapoor also spoke emotionally about his wife’s sacrifices and how he drew inspiration from their long-standing relationship for his role in Subedaar. In the film, he portrays Arjun Maurya, a retired army officer who takes on a local sand-mining mafia to restore dignity and order in his community. Subedaar is set to begin streaming on Prime Video on March 5, 2026. The actor emphasized that while he maintains a friend-like bond with his children, Sonam, Rhea, and Harsh Varrdhan, his relationship with Sunita remains the central pillar of his life and work.
