During a conversation with journalists at an event on Sunday, Mary Kom shared details about this new journey. She stated that winning the World Championship title six times has been an incomparable achievement for her. However, she has reached an age where complications have arisen regarding her participation in amateur boxing.
Consequently, the possibility of her representing the country in the future has become slim. Therefore, the doors to world professional boxing have now opened for her, and she will be associated with professional boxing very soon.
Mary Kom is moving from amateur (Olympic-style) boxing to professional boxing.
Age-related eligibility rules in amateur boxing (which typically have an upper limit of 40 for international competitions) are making it difficult for her to continue in that circuit.
