The 6th Inter-Departmental Joint Assembly cricket tournament, which began on April 25 at the Janata Bhawan playground in Dispur, concluded today. The tournament was officially inaugurated by the Commissioner and Secretary of the General Administration Department, M.S. Manivannan.
Present at today’s final were the Chief Secretary of Assam, Paban Kumar Borthakur; IAS officer and Secretary to the Government of Assam, Shantanu Gotmare; and international bodybuilder Mithun Bhowmik .
A total of 20 teams from various departments and categories (from Grade IV employees to Commissioner-level officers) of the Assam Secretariat participated in this competition. The final match for the men’s category was held between Secretariat Brothers and D-Block (Boys of Junction Eleven). Secretariat Brothers batted first and scored 83 runs in 8 overs. In response, D-Block was bowled out for 48 runs in 8 overs. Secretariat Brothers won the match by 35 runs.
