AIUDF president and former MP Badruddin Ajmal has appealed for all political parties to rise above differences and work together to support flood-affected people in Assam, while urging the Centre to sanction a financial assistance package worth “thousands of crores” for relief and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During a visit to flood-hit areas, Ajmal said ministers and MLAs should focus on rescue and relief activities instead of legislative proceedings. He also urged ministers to contribute from their personal resources, describing assistance to flood victims as a humanitarian responsibility beyond political or religious considerations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stressing the need for inclusive relief efforts, Ajmal said his team was helping affected families without considering their religion or caste. He maintained that humanitarian assistance should reach every victim equally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The AIUDF chief also disclosed that he had proposed suspending the Assam Assembly for two days so that all legislators could directly participate in relief operations and distribute essential supplies among flood victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While acknowledging that the government had undertaken helicopter-based relief operations, Ajmal said many affected people were yet to receive assistance. He urged both the State and Central governments to strengthen relief measures and work in close coordination to tackle the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ajmal further announced that he would write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting a substantial financial package from the Centre to support flood relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts across Assam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
