Bangalore wins the opening match: Brilliant half-centuries by Virat-Padikkal; Ishan’s innings goes in vain

With the goal of moving past bad times and welcoming a new ray of happiness, the country’s high-voltage cricket tournament, the IPL, started today at Bangalore’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Remembering the dark days of the past year, many fans became emotional at the start of the game. Many spectators shed tears remembering those days, praying to the Almighty from the stadium that such difficult times never return.
In the midst of this, the first match of the 2026 IPL began. In the match held on Saturday, home team Bangalore won the toss and invited Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat.
With the help of explosive innings from Ishan Kishan and Aniket Verma, visiting team Hyderabad scored 201 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ishan scored 80 runs off 38 balls with 5 sixes and 8 fours. Aniket scored 43 runs off just 18 balls with 5 massive sixes and 3 fours. Apart from them, Klaasen contributed 31 runs. For Bangalore, Jacob Duff and Romario Shepherd took three wickets each.
In response, Bangalore faced early trouble while chasing Hyderabad’s massive target, losing Philip Salt’s wicket when the team score was just 9. However, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal strengthened the position with a 101-run partnership for the second wicket. Padikkal returned to the pavilion after scoring 61 runs off 26 balls with 4 sixes and 7 fours. Virat contributed an unbeaten 69 runs with 5 sixes and 5 fours.
Ultimately, with brilliant batting, Bangalore achieved the target of 203 runs in just 15.4 overs for the loss of 4 wickets to win the match. For Hyderabad, David Payne took two wickets giving away 35 runs in 3 overs.
