In a high-stakes IPL 2026 clash, Delhi Capitals (DC) successfully broke their home losing streak and kept their playoff hopes alive with a thrilling five-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Sent in to bat first, Rajasthan capitalized on a blistering start from young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who blasted 46 runs off just 21 balls, breaking the record for the most sixes by an Indian batter in a single IPL season. Skipper Riyan Parag also contributed a solid 51 runs off 26 balls, steering RR to a commanding 160/2 by the 14th over. However, an exceptional death-bowling turnaround triggered by DC seamer Madhav Tiwari (2/27) and Mitchell Starc (4/40) choked the scoring, limiting RR to 193/8 after they lost six wickets for just 33 runs in the final six overs.

The chase began beautifully for Delhi as openers Abhishek Porel (51) and KL Rahul (56) stitched together a massive 105-run partnership in under ten overs. Despite Jofra Archer’s brilliant spell (2/35) causing a sudden middle-order collapse that left DC sweating, a critical tactical error by RR captain Riyan Parag shifted the momentum back. With Delhi needing 35 runs off the final three overs, Parag gambled by handing the ball to part-timer Donovan Ferreira for his first over of the night. The decision backfired heavily as Ferreira bled 16 runs, extinguishing the pressure and allowing Axar Patel (34*) to effortlessly guide the Capitals across the finish line with five wickets to spare.
