Mizoram Minister Urges Youth to Join Civil Services
Mizoram Cabinet Minister C. Lalsawivunga encouraged young people to aim for careers in the country’s civil services while attending a felicitation programme organised by the Mizo Students’ Union (MSU) to honour outstanding undergraduate students.The programme was held at Woodland Hills Auditorium in Zonuam, where the MSU General Headquarters felicitated 24 Mizo undergraduate subject toppers. Mizoram Rural Bank Senior Manager (Financial Inclusion) V. Lalrinmawia attended the event as the guest of honour. Addressing the gathering, Lalsawivunga congratulated the students on their academic achievements and said their success was the result of hard work, dedication and determination. He urged them to continue striving for excellence and use their knowledge and abilities for the benefit of society.
The minister expressed concern over the comparatively low number of Mizo youth entering the All India Services and encouraged more students to prepare for competitive examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). He said greater participation in these examinations would enable more young people from the state to secure positions in the country’s administrative services. Speaking at the programme, V. Lalrinmawia praised the MSU for recognising academic excellence and encouraged Mizo youth to explore career opportunities in the banking sector. He said the state needed greater representation in banking services and urged students to consider the profession as a promising career option.
MSU president B. Lalkhawngaihzuala said it was a matter of pride that four of the five gold medallists were Mizos. He appealed to the students to remain committed to the welfare of the state and its people, respect their elders and use their education and skills to contribute positively to society. The programme was chaired by MSU Vice-President Roluahpuia, while General Secretary Zodinsanga presented the organisation’s report.
