Tea Tourism Gets a Boost with New Tourist Lounge in Dibrugarh

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited Manohari Tea Estate in Dibrugarh on the final day of his two-day tour of the district, where he interacted with tea garden workers, students of Manohari TE LP School and members of the estate community. During the visit, the Governor reviewed various welfare initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of tea garden workers.

Governor Acharya enquired about the availability of essential services, including sanitation, safe drinking water, healthcare and education. He also sought feedback from workers on the welfare measures being implemented for their overall development and well-being.

During his interaction with students, the Governor distributed sweets and encouraged them to remain dedicated to their studies. He expressed hope that they would grow into responsible and successful citizens in the future.

Later, Governor Acharya visited the tea factory and inaugurated the Tea Tasting and Tourist Lounge. The newly opened facility is expected to promote Assam’s rich tea heritage while offering visitors an opportunity to learn about the history, traditions and unique characteristics of the state’s globally renowned tea industry.

The Governor also toured the factory, where he was briefed on the different varieties of tea produced at the estate and the processing techniques involved in tea manufacturing. The visit highlighted the importance of Assam’s tea industry and underscored the state’s continued efforts to promote tea tourism while enhancing the welfare of tea garden communities.
