India’s World Cup Ticket: Seeking Victory in Asia Cup
India has secured a spot in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Qatar. After hosting the tournament for the first time in 2017, India has earned this opportunity through merit. The AFC U-17 Asia Cup, starting May 5 in Chonburi, Thailand, will see India competing in Group A alongside Australia, Uzbekistan, and North Korea (now withdrawn). The top two teams from each group will qualify for the World Cup.
With North Korea’s withdrawal, India’s group now consists of only three teams, making two matches crucial for India. A win and a draw, or even a single win depending on other results, could secure their World Cup spot. India’s first match in the Asia Cup is against Australia on May 6.
