Tai Tagak Raises Concern Over Widespread Flood Damage in Arunachal Pradesh

Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak has urged the Central Government to announce a special financial package for relief, rehabilitation and infrastructure restoration in flood-affected Arunachal Pradesh. The appeal follows widespread devastation caused by cloudbursts, landslides and flash floods across several districts of the state.

After inspecting the disaster-hit areas in Papum Pare district and damaged sections of the Trans Arunachal Highway, Tagak said the floods had caused extensive damage to lives, homes, roads, bridges, agricultural land and livestock. According to him, more than 95,000 people have been affected, with severe losses reported to both public infrastructure and private property.

The Rajya Sabha MP said he would raise the matter in Parliament and meet Union ministers to seek additional financial assistance for the state. He also expressed appreciation to the Central Government for deputing Union ministers and an Inter-Ministerial Central Team to assess the extent of the damage and review the relief requirements.

During his visit, Tagak directed the Highway Department to construct a temporary Bailey bridge to restore connectivity to the affected districts until a permanent bridge is built. He stressed the need for swift restoration of road links to ensure the smooth movement of relief materials and essential services.

Rescue, relief and restoration operations are continuing in the affected regions as authorities work to support displaced families and rebuild damaged infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh.
