MSME Sector’s Role in Economic Growth Highlighted at Kohima Outreach Programme
An exclusive MSME Outreach Programme was organised in Kohima to promote entrepreneurship, financial awareness, and business opportunities among aspiring entrepreneurs. The programme was jointly organised by the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in collaboration with Canara Bank and Rhaeven Capital at Hotel Vivor on Monday.
Delivering the keynote address, Santanu Saha, AGM, Circle Office Guwahati, Canara Bank, highlighted the significant contribution of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector to India’s economy. He said the sector contributes over 30 per cent to GDP, accounts for more than 35 per cent of manufacturing output, and nearly 50 per cent of the country’s exports.
Saha acknowledged the potential of the Northeast region and assured that Canara Bank remains committed to supporting MSME growth through financial assistance and other initiatives.
Earlier, Khrietuo Yhome, CEO of Rhaeven Capital, stressed the need to strengthen entrepreneurship in Nagaland. He said creating sustainable businesses and employment opportunities was essential for building a self-reliant economy. He encouraged people, especially the youth, to move beyond traditional employment choices and become entrepreneurs, innovators, and job creators.
The programme featured presentations from various departments and organisations, including the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Department of Industries and Commerce, Labour Department, EPFO, NSDC, Taxes Department, Kohima Municipal Council, Canara Bank, and KCCI.
The event aimed to create awareness about MSME schemes, skill development opportunities, and support systems available for entrepreneurs, while encouraging economic growth through enterprise development in Nagaland.
