Arunachal Steps Up Farmer Support with New Training and Information Centre

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said the newly established State Agriculture Information Hub-cum-Farmers’ Hostel in Naharlagun will play a key role in skilling farmers and strengthening the state’s agriculture and allied sectors. Inaugurating the facility, Khandu said it is the first dedicated training, information and hostel facility for farmers in the state and will provide practical training and information through various modules. The facility is expected to benefit farmers involved in agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and dairy development, helping them improve their skills and strengthen grassroots-level activities. The Chief Minister said both the state and central governments have been taking steps to promote agriculture and allied sectors, while growing interest among farmers and youth presents further opportunities for development. He also emphasised the need to strengthen the fisheries sector, highlighting the launch of Matsya e-Vaahini and e-Rickshaws designed to support fish farmers. The refrigerated and eco-friendly vehicles are expected to improve fish transportation and marketing while reducing environmental impact. Khandu stressed that better value addition and marketing of agricultural and allied products would be essential to increase farmers’ incomes. He expressed hope that the new infrastructure would be effectively utilised to equip farmers across Arunachal Pradesh with relevant skills and knowledge, enabling them to work more efficiently and improve their livelihoods. The initiative marks a step towards creating stronger institutional support for the state’s farming community and promoting sustainable growth across agriculture and allied activities.
