Household Income, Employment, Migration Data to Be Collected in Assam Surveys

The Field Operations Division (FOD) of the National Statistics Office (NSO), under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), will conduct large-scale socio-economic surveys across selected locations in Assam during September 2026.
The surveys are aimed at collecting primary data on a wide range of socio-economic indicators, including household income, migration, debt and investment, employment, agriculture and industries.
The Regional Office, Guwahati, and the Sub-Regional Office, Silchar, will undertake the survey work at various locations during September 2026 under the districts Dhubri, Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon Chirang, Goalpara, Kamrup (R) , Kokrajhar, Nalbari, South Salmara Mankachar, Tamulpur, Kachar, Doma Hasao, Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. 
As part of the survey process, field officials will visit selected households and establishments to collect information using scientifically designed survey schedules.
Appealing for public support, the Director and Regional Head, NSO (FOD), Regional Office, Guwahati, has requested citizens to extend full cooperation to the authorised officers and officials during the survey period by providing accurate and complete information. 
Such cooperation will help to generate reliable official statistics that are crucial for informed policy formulation and nation building. The NSO has assured that all information collected during the surveys will be kept strictly confidential and used solely for statistical purposes.
