Malabar Group Chairman M.P. Ahammad Honoured with Business Bhushan Award
M.P. Ahammad, the Chairman of Malabar Group, has been conferred with the prestigious “Business Bhushan” award at the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2026. The ceremony, held at the iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai, saw Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde presenting the honor to Ahammad for his visionary leadership and transformative impact on the global jewellery retail landscape. Under his guidance, Malabar Gold & Diamonds has grown into the world’s fifth-largest jewellery retailer and the largest of Indian origin, now operating over 425 showrooms across 14 countries.
Accepting the award, Ahammad dedicated the achievement to the “Malabar family” and the millions of customers who have trusted the brand since its inception in 1993. Beyond commercial success, the recognition highlights the group’s significant social contributions, as Malabar Group consistently allocates 5% of its annual profits toward CSR initiatives focusing on education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment. Looking ahead, the Chairman reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the region, announcing an ambitious expansion plan to increase its footprint in Maharashtra to 64 stores by 2029, further strengthening the state’s organized retail ecosystem.
