World number two Aryna Sabalenka has added another title to her collection. In a dominant performance, Sabalenka won the Miami Open title. In the final held last night, Sabalenka defeated the world’s fourth-ranked player 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to claim the trophy. From the semi-finals to the final, she didn’t drop a single set until this match. This marks Sabalenka’s first title win in Miami. In the title victory, she did not look back.
With this win, Sabalenka has completed her “Sunshine Double.” This is her second Open title of the year after the Australian Open. Sabalenka has now reached the Miami Open final twice. She becomes the fifth woman to achieve such a feat. Before her, Steffi Graf, Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters, and Iga Świątek had achieved this honor. This is Sabalenka’s 24th career title.
Note on the “Sunshine Double”: In tennis, the “Sunshine Double” usually refers to winning Indian Wells and the Miami Open back-to-back. While the text mentions it, Sabalenka is widely celebrated for her consistency across these big hard-court tournaments.
