SRH Bolsters Pace Attack South African Speedster Gerald Coetzee Joins as Injury Replacement
Sunrisers Hyderabad have officially signed South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee for the remainder of the TATA IPL 2026 season. Coetzee joins the squad as a replacement for English left-arm seamer David Payne, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to a persistent ankle injury. Before his exit, Payne featured in two matches for the franchise, claiming two wickets. The South African speedster, known for his aggressive pace and bounce, has been acquired for his base price of INR 2 Crore and is expected to join the team’s camp immediately to strengthen their bowling department.
Gerald Coetzee brings a wealth of international experience to the SRH camp, having represented South Africa in all three formats with 67 international wickets to his credit. This move also marks a return to the IPL for Coetzee, who has previously played 14 matches in the league for Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, picking up 15 wickets. With his ability to clock high speeds and deliver under pressure, Coetzee’s inclusion is seen as a strategic boost for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they look to maintain their momentum in the mid-season scramble for the playoffs.
