The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday that fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England. The decision was made following detailed discussions between the BCCI medical team and the team management, with Siraj being advised a period of rest as part of a strict workload management program. The board emphasized that the move is a precautionary measure to guarantee proper recovery for the right-arm pacer ahead of a highly demanding and long international season. Siraj has endured a grueling schedule recently, featured heavily for the Gujarat Titans across all 17 matches of IPL 2026, and just concluded a one-off Test match victory against Afghanistan.

To fill the vacancy, the Men’s Selection Committee has drafted in Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna for both overseas assignments. Krishna, who was also part of the squad that played the Test against Afghanistan, returns to the T20I mix for the first time since November 2023. He joins a revamped, experimental Indian T20I squad led by newly appointed captain Shreyas Iyer and vice-captain Tilak Varma. The reigning ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champions are scheduled to begin their white-ball campaign with two T20Is against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and June 28, before moving to England for a five-match T20I series from July 1 to July 11, followed by three ODIs.
