SSB Conducts Tree Plantation Drive at Sonapur Temple
The 1st Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Sonapur, organised a large-scale tree plantation drive at the Maa Kali Temple in Kamarkuchi, Sonapur, to promote environmental conservation and raise awareness about climate change. Conducted under the guidance of Commandant Sunil Kaushik, the initiative brought together SSB officers, jawans and local residents in a collective effort to enhance the region’s green cover.
During the programme, participants planted hundreds of saplings, including Bakul, Arjun, Madhuri, Jamun, and several other fruit-bearing and shade trees. The plantation drive highlighted the importance of preserving the environment while encouraging community participation in sustainable development initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Inspector (GD) T. Baite emphasised that trees are the foundation of life and stressed that planting and protecting them is a shared responsibility towards future generations. He urged people to actively contribute to afforestation efforts and adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives.
The programme concluded with participants taking a pledge to protect the environment and continue supporting initiatives aimed at increasing forest cover and promoting ecological balance. The plantation drive reflects the SSB’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement while reinforcing the importance of collective action in addressing climate change.
