Mizoram Steps Up Monitoring of Major Infrastructure Works

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Monday reviewed the progress of several major infrastructure projects at a Mi-PRAGATI meeting, focusing on project milestones, monsoon-related disruptions and measures to keep works on schedule. Among the key projects reviewed was the Thenzawl Peace City Master Plan, covering 85 sq km across six Village Councils, with initial projects including solid waste management, Dilpui Lake development and a new Saturday Market. The plan also includes river rejuvenation and flood mitigation measures and is aimed at reducing pressure on the state capital, Aizawl. The meeting also assessed the Central Young Mizo Association Conference Centre at Thingsulthliah, being developed under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 at a cost of Rs 99.71 crore, with completion targeted for March 2028. Progress of the Mizo Fiber Grid Network was reviewed as well, with the Rs 50 crore project designed to connect all district headquarters through more than 600 km of optical fibre infrastructure and scheduled for completion by December. Officials also briefed the meeting on the Rs 60 crore integrated office complex at MINECO, where work has reached 15 per cent amid monsoon-related challenges. The Rs 100.24 crore Pukzing-Silsury road project in Mamit district, connecting towards the Bangladesh border, has achieved 8.38 per cent progress and remains targeted for completion by January 2028. The government said compensation issues and weather-related delays are being addressed to keep the projects on track.
