Nari-Koyu MLA Tojir Kadu on Saturday chaired a special review meeting with heads of departments (HoDs) to assess relief, restoration, and rehabilitation measures following the recent cloudburst and natural calamities that caused extensive damage in the Nari-Koyu area of Lower Siang district.

The meeting was attended by Lower Siang Deputy Commissioner Gobi Nyicyor, Superintendent of Police Bomken Basar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ainstein Koyu, along with senior officials from various departments. During the meeting, MLA Kadu highlighted that restoring road connectivity remains the government’s immediate priority, as surface communication is crucial for carrying out damage assessments and extending rehabilitation support to affected communities.

Kadu informed that an extensive drone survey and detailed ground assessments are being conducted to prepare an accurate report on the extent of damages. The findings will be submitted to the central government to seek necessary assistance for restoration and relief activities.

The MLA directed all departmental officers to visit the affected areas and submit comprehensive reports on damages and requirements. He stated that road connectivity from both Ledum and Zirdo has been temporarily restored, enabling better access to the affected locations.

Kadu also urged officials to extend all possible support to displaced and affected families. He added that panchayati raj institutions have been engaged to coordinate with officials and village committees for effective relief distribution and assessment. The government is also providing a special relief package for restoring critical infrastructure damaged by the disaster. Departmental heads briefed the MLA on ongoing relief operations, future action plans, and challenges faced during restoration work.
