Riyan Parag Fined for Code of Conduct Breach Following Dressing Room Vaping Incident
Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag has been penalized by the IPL Governing Council following a controversial incident during a recent match against the Punjab Kings.
The young cricketer was reportedly seen using an electronic cigarette, or vaping, within the confines of the team dressing room while the game was in progress.
The Incident and Discovery
The breach of protocol came to light when cameras captured Parag using the device. The footage quickly led to a controversy, as smoking of any kind within the dressing room area is strictly prohibited under the league’s safety and conduct guidelines.
Official Action and Penalty
The IPL Governing Council and match officials took immediate notice of the situation, identifying the act as a violation of the IPL Code of Conduct.
Authorities launched a formal inquiry into the matter, during which Riyan Parag admitted to the mistake. The act was categorized as a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
As a consequence, Parag has been fined 25% of his match fee.
The incident serves as a stern reminder of the strict disciplinary standards maintained by the IPL, even within private player areas. The Rajasthan Royals have yet to release an official statement regarding additional internal disciplinary measures.
