NFR Racks Up Record Unloading: 1,135 Freight Rakes in April, Fuelling Northeast’s Growth
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) set a record by unloading 1,135 freight rakes in the month of April. This marks a strong start for the 2026-27 financial year.
In a statement released by the authorities, it was noted that during this month, essential and industrial goods—such as food grains, fertilizers, sugar, salt, petroleum products (POL), coal, and other materials—were transported. Among the various stations in the Northeast, the highest number of unloadings occurred in Assam, where 593 rakes were unloaded. Of these, 317 rakes contained only essential commodities.
The distribution of unloaded rakes across other states and areas under NFR is as follows:
West Bengal 203 rakes, Bihar 166 rakes, Tripura 91 rakes, Nagaland 32 rakes, Arunachal Pradesh 20 rakes, Manipur 14 rakes, Mizoram 8 rakes.
The Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR stated that the railway is committed to meeting the needs of the public and supporting economic activities by ensuring the timely movement of essential and industrial goods across the region.
