LEAP Strengthens Digital Education and Teacher Capacity in Kiphire

The Kiphire District Administration, in partnership with NagaEd, has concluded the three-year Learning Enhancement and Accessibility Project (LEAP), a digital education initiative that benefited more than 1,200 students and 35 Mathematics and Science teachers across 15 schools in Kiphire district. Implemented under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts Programme, the project strengthened digital infrastructure, enhanced teacher capacity and expanded access to curriculum-aligned learning resources. By the end of the initiative, 96% of teachers reported regularly using digital learning resources, while 91% said LEAP had improved the overall quality of education. Teachers also reported greater confidence in using digital tools, with an average self-rating of 8.3 out of 10. All participating schools, including nine government and six private institutions, were equipped with Smart TVs, connectivity solutions and access to NagaEd’s Digital Class platform. More than 1,400 Mathematics and Science resources for Classes 9 and 10 were developed, including videos, interactive exercises, presentations and assessments. Teachers received ongoing mentoring, refresher training and on-site coaching, supported by a dedicated digital community. Despite challenges such as unreliable internet and power outages, offline resources including pen drives and printed assessments ensured continued access to learning materials. Teachers said the initiative made classrooms more interactive and simplified the teaching of complex concepts through visual tools. Although LEAP has formally ended, participating teachers will continue to receive free access to Digital Class and offline resources, helping sustain the digital learning systems established under the project.
